I teach Learn to Skate Lesson on Saturday at Clary Anderson Arena in Montclair NJ. This past Saturday I just got a new learn to skate class to teach. I am teaching the Tot two class the students rang from the age 4 to 6 years old. They are the cuties kids in the world they asked the best question in the world. Some of the question have nothing to do with ice skating and some of them are asking if they will learn how to skate to be in the Olympics. So far they are learning everything on the fast side. Lets hope this Saturday is as good as the last Saturday.

Skating Girl!
ReplyDeleteIm glad this is really exciting for you and skating is your passion. I could imagine it makes hundreds of kids very happy and maybe soon they can be the next Michelle Kwan. I wish i can learn how to skate, but i always fall down. Good Luck on your lessons.
Please share with us some of the teaching techniques that you are learning as you work with these small children. How do you introduce your lesson? How do you review what you have taught? How do you assess them and determine whether they "go it" or not. You will be able to transfer some of your teaching techniques on the ice to your teaching within the classroom. How do you motivate these young people to continue to pursue this activity? What type of praise do you give? Do you believe in lots and lots of praise? Why? Dr. Ries
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a lot of fun! I have a lot of younger cousins and nieces and nephews and it is always exciting to teach them something new. It can be challenging to teach such young children though because their focus is not the best. Good luck with that class!!
